Job Purpose

Perform specific activities while supporting electricians during installation, repair works and maintenance.

Key, Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Connect wiring to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components such lighting fixtures and power equipment;
  2. Connect power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads;
  3. Study building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence installations;
  4. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem;
  5. Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and other electrical tools, to ensure compatibility and safety of system;
  6. Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes;
  7. Connect motors, control panels, starters, disconnects and test to insure efficient operation;
  8. Install sound systems, security systems and voice and data systems and new lighting and ceiling fans;
  9. Thread conduit ends and connect couplings and conduit fittings;
  10. Replace faulty circuit breakers, fuses, switches, electrical and electronic components, or wire;
  11. Repair Motors, transformers, generators, and electronic controllers on machine tools and industrial robots;
  12. Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications

A Diploma in Electrical Studies.

Experience

At least three (3) years working experience, in electrical Installations.

Job Purpose

Provide expert support to all core/central information systems viz: (academic, research and administrative). Perform system tuning and recovery procedures for the university critical centralized systems and ensure high uptime, performance and security of the systems.

Key, Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Plan and coordinate ICT training requirements for staff in their respective units in line Installation, management and maintenance of application servers and related university systems.
  2. Investigate and analyze the feasibility of system requirements and develop system specifications to prevent problems and to improve systems performance;
  3. Maintain operating systems, business applications and security tools;
  4. Evaluate related hardware and software products and make recommendations for adoption;
  5. Plan and recommend the redesign and configuration of operating systems and system applications;
  6. Implement system installations, expansion, upgrades and improvements;
  7. Automate tasks through scripting and the adoption of software/hardware tools;
  8. Undertake periodic internal audits of all university systems;
  9. Organize and schedule External System Audits;
  10. Provide expert support for the information system applications in the respective units;
  11. Participate in developing internal local software in liaison with the Systems Manager;
  12. Backup and restore University Systems;
  13. Analyze system logs and identify potential risk issues with University systems;

  14. Troubleshoot any reported problems with University Systems;
